After wound clinic came diabetic clinic

By daeonahope

At Cottonwood Hospital, I found the most wonderful health care professionals I ever found in 50 years. Emergency room and diabetic clinic and the Apothecary staff are all heaven sent angels of healing.

The ladies in the diabetic clinic are prompt with their appointments which is rare in medical offices. The lady in charge of my issue is so smart, and all I had to do is hand her my blood sugar testing unit – she knew 25 things that were right and wrong.

The wrong part was – the numbers were over 300-375 when they should have been 105. Dr. Rhoades told me I had to keep the numbers under 170 or less to heal Vesuvius. The ladies at the Diabetic clinic accented this statement boldly.

If I wanted to heal, get the diabetes in control.

Three awesome nurses helped me in this phase. The first one told me what I was doing so poorly, and asked me if I had ever been instructed on diet etc? I told her No!

She immediately arranged for a nurse to teach me correct diet, give me books of the steps to keep the blood sugar under control, and was just so kind and wise, I was so glad the wound clinic referred me there.

She had me email or call the numbers into her every Thursday to make sure the insulin amounts were doing the job.

These nurses did so well, the last time my blood sugar was taken, the number was 128.

The third lady gave me books on what carbs were found in many foods including fast foods. Sometimes we like to go for a hamburger and french fries and my books tell me the carbs in many foods. I was really tickled to see I could have a McDonald’s sausage McGriddle for breakfast.

She gave me a month’s menus. She told me neat stuff – like a snackĀ  I like is popcorn. She said sprinkle some Parmesan cheese on the hot popcorn and I have a dandy snack.

I truly praise and appreciate these wonderful women helping diabetics in this Salt Lake valley.

I go back every 90 days for the tons of blood tests for diabetic wellness. I could not have been writing about my wonderful healing if those women, along with all other helpers, had not been there.
